Montague Launches High End Folding Bike for Luxury Lifestyle
New Allston Model Provides Full-Sized Functionality, Premium Components, and a Compact Fold
CAMBRIDGE, MA – July 18, 2016 – Montague Bikes, the leader in full-size folding bikes, has launched a new bicycle designed from the ground up to deliver top-rated performance and functionality to the discerning consumer. Its cutting edge components and folding design offer the perfect solution to those looking for a reliable riding experience and a compact profile which can be easily stored on a yacht, aircraft or fine automobile.
The Allston features a rust-proof carbon belt in place of a standard metal chain which allows grease-free handling and keeps fine clothing and interiors stain free. The belt drive is extremely quiet, smooth and lasts longer than a chain. The bike also features a sealed Shimano 11-speed internal gear hub that delivers a wide gear range with no exposed parts. The combination makes the drivetrain corrosion resistant and virtually maintenance-free. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes deliver the most stopping power and quickest brake response available in the bike industry.
The Allston’s frame, rims and components are made of aircraft grade aluminum and are combined with stainless steel spokes, ideal for harsh marine environments when the bike is stowed on a boat or yacht. Extra wide 38mm tires make the Allston especially suited for the gravel and unpaved roads likely to be found at remote vacation destinations. When folded, the bike compacts to just 36 inches wide, 28 inches high and 12 inches deep, perfect for tight storage spaces. It also weighs only 30 lbs, making it very light and portable.
Like all Montague bikes, the Allston includes the patented DirectConnect™ folding system that provides unmatched frame stiffness for superior ride quality, and can be folded and unfolded in less than 20 seconds. It also comes equipped with Montague’s patented Eurobike award winning RackStand which serves as a cargo rack and mud guard when the bike is in use, converts into a kickstand when parked, and allows the bike to stand upright when folded. The Allston retails for $1,895.00.
