Unlike other folding bikes with small wheels and many proprietary parts, Montague bikes use full-size wheels and all standard components. That allows endless customization of everything from the handlebars to the bottom bracket with off-the-shelf aftermarket parts.
The creative team at Beagle Bicycle Co. will treat a Montague bike as a blank canvas to come up with truly unique specifications. Featured today is a custom Montague Boston. The stock Boston is a single speed, but this build features a 3-speed internal gear hub with a coaster brake instead. But that’s not all. To elevate this bike from around-town cruiser to all-around ripper, it’s also equipped with 650b wheels instead of the stock 700c. This creates more tire clearance and allows for 50mm Pirelli Cinturato Gravel tires. Pair those with a robust Origin8 crankset and wide riser handlebars with a MTB style Deity Cavity stem, and this Boston is like a full-size geared BMX bike.
And of course it still folds with the flip of a quick release to stow in the car trunk, train, or closet.
