David Byrne Tours on Montague Folding Bike

CAMBRIDGE, MA – September 17, 2009 – David Byrne, co-founder of the band Talking Heads, has been traveling all around the world for years. Along with the regular gear and equipment that goes on tour with any band, David has also had one key component by his side, his Montague folding bike. David recently wrote a book about his love for cycling and his travels on a folding bicycle. The book ‘Bicycle Diaries’ was released in the US today, September 17.

In it he speaks of looking at the world with ‘bicycle eyes’, riding through cities such as Istanbul and Sydney, and in his home of New York City. He talks about how his Montague folding bike was convenient to ride in each city he visited. David remarks; “I started to take a full-size folding bike with me when I traveled so I got to experience other cities as a cyclist as well. Seeing cities from on top of a bike is both pleasurable and instructive. On a bike one sees a lot more than from a freeway, and often it’s just as fast as car traffic in many towns.” Montague Bikes is proud to be a part of David’s travels and passion for cycling.

Also doing his part to help the cycling community, David auctioned off his world tour Montague CX folding bike last month to raise money for the London Cycling Campaign (LCC). The CX Comfort Bike is a full-sized, high performance 21-speed bike with 26” standard wheels. The comfort package includes a gel saddle and suspension seat post to soften the ride and adjustable handlebars for a comfortable upright riding position.

All Montague bikes quickly fold down to 36” x 28” x 12” without the use of tools. The entire package weighs about 30 lbs making it easy to transport while folded. The bikes come standard with 26” wheels and eyelets for racks and fenders, and are also serviceable at any local bike shop.
