If you’ve been waiting for a fully loaded, full-size, high-performance mountain bike that can fold to fit in the trunk of your car or hall closet, your wait is finally over.
Montague is pleased to be able to offer the SwissBike X90 in the U.S. for the first time ever!
Like all Montague bikes, the SwissBike X90 can go from the trail to the trunk in less than 20 seconds, without tools. The patented folding technology means that the bike performs as well as any non-folding bike – you won’t feel any flex in the frame while you’re riding. And with 26″ wheels, hydraulic disc brakes, a RockShox Sektor fork with 135mm of travel, and a 30-speed SRAM drivetrain, you’ll be ready to take on pretty much anything.
You can also see what Danish review site, CyclePort, has to say about the SwissBike X90.

This is just such a great bike! Functional, high quality and beautiful. I am a huge fan of Montague bikes overall, but the Montague SwissBike X90 feels like a custom made (full size!) mountain bike just for me, Peter Dahlberg! The more I ride it the better I like it. As an ex paratrooper I am itching to take it to the test on a jump (I know, I know, it’s a civilian version:-) I’ll keep you posted on my progress. LOL to the Montague team from Peter Dahlberg
Thanks for the kind words Peter. The X90 is probably the highest performance folder on the market so it’s no surprise it feels custom; it’s quite unique! And although it is the civilian version, we’ve actually made improvements to our frame design since the original military bikes. Stronger, lighter, and the X90 might even have some nicer parts. 🙂
I bought a Paratrooper-Pro for my son some time back as he is used to a full size bike, wants a full sized MTB but lives high up an apartment. I also loved the bike so I recently imported an X90 custom frame as my existing fixed frame has good components I do not want to abandon. I’ve since moved everything over and yes, it makes for a great bike, nice looking too. Yes, it feels as if it was custom made to my taste. My bike is a bit heavier though…..I use a Suntour-NCX seatpost.
Awesome! Send us a photo of your custom bike to marketing@montaguebikes.com. We’d love to feature it on our social media.
Hi Guys,
I’d be most happy to…I don’t see how I can attach pictures to this reply so I am going to send them separately from a POP3 account.
Anyway, save for the custom frame, my bike was built up with a Truvativ headset and handlebar from my first ‘branded bike’ an old Bianchi MUTT 7400, Shimano Deore drivetrain from a Jamis which replaced the Bianchi, Deore-XT brakes and a Rock-Shox Recon fork which were replacements for the parts damaged when another car rear-ended mine as I was carrying the Jamis on a boot carrier.
The wheels are Alex-Rims on Shimano Deore hubs which were also replacements after the rear-ending. They are shod with Maxxis Crossmark’s which I like a lot.
I love my X-90 but do have a SMALL LITTLE PROBLEM. The 5mm hydraulic hoses of my Deore-XT brakes do not sit in the brake cable lugs of the X-90 which are unusually large. I have had to wrap the cable with electrician tape and have now settled for co-axial cable housing glued on with super-glue.
I am sure you guys have a proper solution in mind for these custom frames.
Rgds,
Freddie
Hey Freddie. Sounds like a great spec, I’m looking forward to seeing photos. There are housing guides made specifically for holding hydraulic lines in a frame. The ones I know of are made by Jagwire: http://jagwire.com/products/v/Stoppers_Loop_Guides
I’m sure there are some others out there as well. Your local bike shop might even have an option.
Thanks guys….your suggestion happened to be what I was planning to do. I used Jagwire Ripcords for the front and rear derailleurs and saw their “cable guide stop ends” in my LBS. I have bought a couple of them and had the tiny hole drilled through to 5mm. The Shimano brake hoses now goes through nicely. I will be re-running the hoses soon.
