The Eurobike show in Friedrichshafen, Germany is just around the corner. It’s the largest bicycle trade shows in the world, so if you’re into cycling you should know about it. Eurobike was first held in 1991, and has continued annually ever since. It has grown each year and the Messe Friedrichshafen, one of the largest exhibition centers in Germany, has grown along with it. The Messe consists of 13 different halls which at showtime will be filled with some of the finest bikes, components, accessories, and cycling apparel the industry has to offer.
This year’s show will be open for trade visitors from Wednesday August 27th to Friday August 29th, and for the cycling fans out there, it will be open to the public on August 30th. Montague is exhibiting in Hall-B1, at Stand number 510. Come visit us!
Last year 45,200 industry visitors attended the show from 111 different countries, and a total of 1,280 exhibitors from 54 countries showed their products. A solid increase from 2012 where 43,700 visitors from 97 countries made their way to Germany to attend.
An extra 20,400 consumers, 300 world premieres, and 1,883 journalists swelled the already busy halls on the public day.
Demo Day
The day before the indoor exhibition starts is called Demo Day. It provides an opportunity for attendees to test ride the latest bikes and products that vendors will be presenting at the show. While it’s historically been held in the next town over, this year’s Demo Day will be held at the expo ground in Friedrichshafen for the very first time on August 26th.
“At present, more than 140 companies (189 brands) have registered for the test ride day, and the area reserved for this special exhibition has increased by more than 10 percent,” said Eurobike project manager Dirk Heidrich. The more convenient location appears to be well on it’s way to being a success.
Eurobike Award
Every year at the show, the coveted Eurobike Awards are given to the most innovative new products. The awards are organized by iF design, a German-based design services organization, and are given to companies and organizations that focus on the development and design of bicycles and cycling accessories, from mountain bikes and special bikes to individual components, clothing and accessories.
