Announcement: New Folding Bikes for 2011
CAMBRIDGE, MA – September 27, 2010 – Montague Corporation, a leader in full-size folding bikes and bike components for over 20 years, recently announced three new and upgraded bikes for their 2011 line up of full-size folding bikes and the availability of their popular Octagon Adjustable Stem as an aftermarket component.
Montague introduced the Paratrooper Pro, the Boston 8 and the upgraded FIT to the industry at the Eurobike and Interbike trade shows in September. Just like all Montague bikes, these models feature their patented folding technology which allows their bikes to fold in less than 30 seconds without the use of tools and without and cuts to the bike frame.
Adding to their line of full-size folding mountain bikes the Paratrooper PRO builds on the success of ever popular Montague Paratrooper bike that was developed in conjunction with the U.S Marines. The PRO version features the same rugged frame as the original Paratrooper in a matte black color with an SRAM X7 drivetrain and upgraded front shocks with lockout. MSRP for the Paratrooper Pro will be $1,049 USD.
For the urban and transportation market Montague introduced the Boston 8, a bike designed to be easy to use and for city riding. The Boston 8 has the same clean frame design as their popular Boston single speed bike and features an 8-speed internal hub, full-size 700c wheels and front and rear mud guards. MSRP for the Boston 8 will be $1,099 USD.
In the high-end folding bike category, the FIT, designed for speed and the high-performance minded rider, will have carbon forks for 2011 plus an upgraded drivetrain including FSA crank and Shimano Tiagra derailleur. The price will remain at the 2010 level of $1,299 USD.
For components, Montague announced the Octagon adjustable stem, which is already standard equipment on two Montague bikes, will be available as an aftermarket component from independent bike dealers beginning this fall. The Octagon allows for up to 120mm of stem adjustment without the use of tools and is compatible with all 1-1/8” threadless steerer tubes and stems.
“We were very pleased with the reception of the 2011 bikes and Octagon stem. It’s exciting to see so much interest from European and North American distributors, dealers and consumers” said David Montague, President of Montague Corporation. “It was evident speaking to attendees at Eurobike and Interbike that our bikes and components are well aligned with the fast growing mobility and transportation bike markets.”
