MONTAGUE REDESIGNS FOLDING BIKES FOR 2016
CAMBRIDGE,MA – Fall 2015 – Montague Bikes, the leader in full-size folding bikes, has just announced a complete redesign of their folding bike frame for 2016. Montague will premiere their new patented DirectConnect™ folding system on a line of road and mountain bikes with updated component specs and a fresh new look.
The DirectConnect system builds upon their concentric seat tube design, which does not break the frame’s tubing to allow the bike to fold. The design, already considered the strongest folding frame on the market, is improved with a revolutionary latch that directly mates the two halves of the frame when unfolded. It removes the need for a quick release on the top tube and provides a larger clamping surface and load bearing area than their previous design. This all leads to increased stiffness in the frame, and a ride far superior to other folding bikes on the market.
“We pride ourselves on the strength and high performance nature of our full-size folding bikes, and we’re constantly looking to improve upon our designs,” said David Montague, President. “Our riders demand performance from our bikes that isn’t available from other folders, and our new DirectConnect system delivers unprecedented ride quality from a folding bike.”
Montague’s 2016 bike line also boasts new component specifications to meet the needs of the modern rider with multiple 27.5″ wheel mountain bikes, disc brake equipped road models, and wide tire 700c bikes for the endurance and gravel categories. A new belt drive model equipped with Shimano’s Alfine 11 internal gear hub rounds out the line as the perfect urban commuter.
“We looked closely at the current trends of the bike market and created a line of folding bikes that can take you anywhere,” said Jonathan Vandenberg, sales manager. “We’ve built bikes for off-road, on road, comfort, and commuting, all while maintaining the ability to fold to a compact size for travel or storage.”
The updated bikes also boast new paint and graphics that match the company’s rebranding. Montague’s new logo adorns the headbadge of all the 2016 models, while a new color scheme can be seen across a set of sleek new graphics.
“Our new logo is actually a reference to the Montague family crest,” said Ryan Walas, marketing manager. “Our goal is to create a meaningful and visually stunning experience with our bike line, marketing materials, and online presence. Our bike’s new paint and graphics provide a more modern, streamlined look that is consistent across our line.”
Several of Montague’s 2016 bikes come equipped with their Eurobike Award winning RackStand™. The specially designed rear rack acts as a luggage carrier, mudguard, kickstand, and work stand all in one. It also assists in folding the bike and allows it to rest on the stand when folded.
As always, the new line of Montague bikes fold in under 20 seconds and incorporate their latest patented technologies offering unprecedented performance and portability. The DirectConnect equipped bikes will be available in early 2016 and will retail between $645 and $2449.
