I own a lot of bikes and I bought the FIT so I can ride when I’m traveling. I”m very happy with my new bike! The ride is sweet, and I’ve done a few charity rides on it so far. It performed and at the end of the day, i just bung it in the trunk no bike rack needed. I like that. Don’t need to worry about it being stolen. Other than the seat which I changed, it is definitely a solid road bike that is stiff, and the 30 speed Tiagra is very nice.

Excellent bike! I bought this for training and I can take it anywhere because it fits in my car and I don’t need a bike rack.

A fantastic all-around bike for every situation.

Rides even better than expected. No flex in the frame. Disc brakes are nice. Bike is lightweight. 4 stars only because I didn’t like the seat. I replaced it with another.

This is an amazing, extremely well-constructed, high end bike. My priority while considering buying a bike was primarily one that could not only fold, but also function as a reliable means of transport commuting to and from work, as well as getting around the city. Speed was also another one of my considerations. All I can say is, if you are considering buying a folding bike that’s reliable, durable, uniquely stylish, and fast, then the 2016 Montague Fit is in my humble opinion, the one to get. After swapping out the stock tires (I currently don’t do any light off road riding and wanted tires with enhanced rolling resistance) for a pair of 28mm continental 4000 SII’s, I’ve accumulated roughly about 180 miles on it so far, and it functions just as well as (if not better than a handful of) any non-folding bike; you just could not tell the difference. The 10-speed tiagra group-set enables it to rapidly pick up speed when you need it. It also has an eye-catching color scheme that a few people have commented on. Thanks Montague for having the vision to create such an impressive bike.

Purchased the FIT for commuting. It’s everything I wanted. Lightweight, fast to fold and on the road, stores neatly in my apartment and at the office. I’m saving time and the planet.

The FIT is a first class folding bike. Easy to fold and store in my car so I can squeeze in a ride whenever I get a chance. I use this mostly for triathlon training so I’ve swapped out some parts to make it more like my main road bike. Drop bars, clipless pedals, different sadlle. Still folds pretty flat even with drops.

Great bike! I do general riding to stay in shape, nothing crazy but this is a joy to ride, very smooth. The carbon fork makes a big difference and makes it easy to carry. Also recommend the bike bag to keep everything clean while storing.

Wonderful bike!

I just recently purchased my FIT. I was expecting to take it a bike shop for set up but everything seems OK out of the box so I went with it. So far so good. It rides and shifts smoothly. I prefer a wider saddle so I will change that out. Folding is as fast as claimed with a little practice. Really looking forward to being out more this spring and I have plans to travel with the bike a few times this summer. Will post long term review after those experiences.

Great bike – use it for work, touring and for taking on hols in the back of the car. Foldability means you don’t have to leave out in the rain or locked up – so saves the weight of the lock. Also carbon forks helps reduce weight a bit.

I love this bike. It is truly very high quality design and construction. I wanted the highest performance possible with the frame, so I switched to Ksyrium wheels with Continental 5000 tires (v low rolling resistance). (I picked up the pair of wheels for only $150!) I also hate disk brakes so I switched to rim brakes at the same time. The frame has mounting holes at the right spots, which is a nice touch. Comparing ride times on my regular routes on the Fit to those on my best road bike there is only the tiniest difference. The ride also feels incredibly smooth and comfortable, and this may become my regular touring bike. The Tiagra derailleurs are very smooth, and I honestly can’t feel the difference compared to the Ultegra units on my best bike. Folding is as easy as they say, but do be aware the front wheel must come off. Once folded it is much smaller than the maximum size allowed on Amtrak trains as luggage. No more worrying about reserving a space. BTW: I am 6′ 2″ and the Large frame is big enough, though I bought a stem extender ($10) to get better overall geometry with the seat where I like it.

I bought the fit because I wanted a road bike that I could use on roads and on tracks. I also wanted a bike that I could travel with ,I have flown a lot with a bike and it’s always a pain.
A few months ago I flew to South Australia and rode my fit on a supported ride North 2200km across Australia ,over mountain passes and deserts there were hundreds of kilometres on rough ,often corrugated roads such as the Birdsville track.
I was able to change from road 28mm road tires to 32mm knobby tires for the rough stuff.
The fit preformed with flying colors.
The only problem I had was packing the bike in the bag provided. With the spare tires and cardboard packing I used to protect the bike I couldn’t close the zipper!
More work need on the bag for airline travel Montague. In the end I had to resort to the standard cardboard bike box.
A great bike but it looks like I will have to get a specially made bag in order to fold it for air travel .

Still love this bike. Just wanted to add my experience using it for touring. It was great during two week-long tours. Very steady and smooth, and with a slightly larger cassette, gearing is great for hills with the triple chain rings up front. And the beauty is that — once folded quickly into its bag — it was happily accepted as checked baggage (at least by Delta). Because of that, no need to ship the bike at the beginning and end of the tours, greatly simplifying the trips.
I also have the opposite experience compared to Paul concerning the bike bag. I bought one from Montague (his was “provided” so maybe different?). Not only does the folded bike WITH touring rack fit easily into the bag, but I actually feel the bag is a little BIG. There’s plenty of room in there for other stuff, and ideally I wish it were a little more snug! Maybe Paul and I should swap. 🙂 Just for reference, the bag I bought is 36″ tall and varies between 40″ wide at the top and 28″ wide at the bottom (it’s listed as 36″ x 28″). The bag is 8″ deep (front to back at the bottom), but obviously expands wider than that elsewhere. Cleverly, the shoulder strap attaches directly to the bike, not the bag, so it doesn’t droop when you carry it. There is a separate pocket for the front wheel.

I bought one of the few FIT frames left and had it built up with drop bars, a Tiagra drivetrain, caliper brakes, Shimano RS100 wheels, and gatorskin tires. I was hesitant to buy an aluminum frame because my intent was to use the bike for travel. I couldn’t resist the purchase because the salesman on the phone offered me a great deal. I must say I have no regrets. I love the bike! Its comfortable, I can cosign it being smooth, and the “fit” (pun intended) is damn near perfect. The bike rides steady, but not slow and inspires me in different riding conditions whether on a rail-trail or in city traffic. I am looking forward to enjoying many more fun adventures with Monty.
P.S. I can roll the bike by folding it, keeping both wheels on, tying one side of the handlebar to the adjacent wheel, lifting the bike a bit by the saddle and wheeling it with the front wheel.

Bought mine in 2018, LOVE IT. Great for 100-mile rides up the California coastline. Definitely love that I can fold it within seconds to store in my vehicle’s trunk. Awesome design.
