Montague Leads Funway to Fenway Park&Pedal to Red Sox Game
Second Annual Ride to Fenway Celebrates Red Sox Bike Valet and Multi-Modal Options
Cambridge, MA – Montague Bikes is teaming up with MassBike and the Boston Red Sox to promote bicycling as the Fun Way to Fenway, where free bike valet is offered at every home game. Whether riding some of the way or all of the way, there are several low-stress options available on Saturday, May 21.
“Bicycling to Fenway is fast, fun and free,” said Richard Fries, MassBike executive director. “The Red Sox are one of just two Major League Baseball franchises to offer bike valet in an effort to ease burden on transit, parking and traffic in the Fenway neighborhood.”
“Riding to the game is a great way to get there,” said Ryan Walas of Montague Bikes. “And using one of the Park&Pedal lots around Boston allows fans who have a longer trip to skip the “last mile” traffic near Fenway. You drive part way, park your car, and cycle the rest of the way right up to the gate. And best of all, it’s free! To find a convenient Park&Pedal location, go to parkandpedal.org.”
Cycling legend and MassBike Board member Tim Johnson will again lead a 50-mile invitational ride from Downtown Providence with a stop at McCoy Stadium, home of the Minor League Pawtucket Red Sox, to Boston. With roll-on access to all MBTA Commuter Rail Trains on weekends, folks can join a ride from both North and South Stations escorted by staff of Urban Adventours. Or motorists can park for free at Herter Park’s Park&Pedal lot along Soldiers Field Road and join the 3:30pm ride escorted by Montague Bikes along the Charles River to the ballpark.
Additionally several Boston-area bicycle shops will lead rides from their stores to the ballpark for the 4:05 game against the Cleveland Indians.
The rides do not include admission to the game. Participants will be returning on their own and lights are recommended for the dusk ride.
