Montague Launches the Most Versatile Folding Bike for Boaters
New Allston Model Provides Full-Sized Functionality with a Compact Fold for On-board Storage
CAMBRIDGE, MA – Montague Bikes, the leader in full-size folding bikes, has launched a new bicycle designed from the ground up to deliver top-rated performance and functionality to boating enthusiasts. Its cutting edge components and folding design offer the perfect solution to those looking for a reliable riding experience when on land and an easy and compact profile when stored on a boat.
The Allston features a rust-proof carbon belt drive instead of a standard metal chain. This allows grease-free handling and has the added benefit for boaters who travel in conditions where corrosion of exposed metal parts is an issue. The bike also features a sealed Shimano 11-speed internal gear hub that delivers a wide gear range with no exposed parts. It is corrosion resistant, requires no lubrication and is virtually maintenance-free.
The Allston’s frame, rims and components are made of aluminum and are combined with stainless steel spokes, all of which can withstand harsh marine environments. Its extra wide 38mm tires make the Allston especially suited for the gravel and unpaved roads surrounding marinas and boat yards. When folded, the bike compacts to just 36 inches wide, 28 inches high and 12 inches deep, perfect for tight storage spaces. It also weighs only 30 lbs, making it very light and portable.
Like all Montague bikes, the Allston includes the patented DirectConnect™ folding system that provides increased frame stiffness for superior riding, and can be folded and unfolded in less than 20 seconds. It also comes equipped with Montague’s patented Eurobike award winning RackStand™ which serves as a standard cargo rack and mud guard when the bike is in use, converts into a kickstand when parked, and allows the bike to stand upright when folded. The Allston retails for $1,895.00.
